Case Study: Turning a productivity platform into an AI leader
Notion, a workspace and productivity tool beloved by consumers and businesses, began the development of its generative AI offering, Notion AI, in the fall of 2022. With advancements in the AI Industry moving at a breakneck pace, Notion wanted to ensure it could announce Notion AI quickly, but position it correctly, to maximize impact.
The Outcast team quickly built a media strategy for the initial launch, advising on messaging and positioning, developing materials and bringing our AI expertise to bear through the development of media targets and preparing Notion for a high-visibility moment. By giving exclusive early access to Notion AI to the editor-at-large of the Verge, paired with an interview with Notion’s CEO, we secured a strong, tonesetting feature for the beta launch that demonstrated Notion’s vision, and Notion AI’s ease-of-use and utility. This led to follow-on features in outlets like Fast Company, Forbes and ZDNet, which helped drive high demand for beta sign-ups, and foster buzz for the public launch.
