In 2018, the US Air Force established the Rapid Sustainment Office (RSO). Its task: to keep critical defense systems flying by sourcing, scaling, and distributing the cutting-edge technological advancements like 3D printing and artificial intelligence. RSO turned to Outcast to articulate a mission, vision, and identity that would establish them as an indispensable partner to internal Air Force departments and to the civilian tech industry.

We crafted a messaging architecture that established what this new RSO brand had to offer the Air Force and the Department of Defense. Its forward-thinking logo, brand colors, and distinctive typography formed a visual identity that culminated in the launch of RSO’s website.

Our partnership with the RSO enabled us to launch the first-ever Advanced Manufacturing Olympics: a four-day virtual event that brought together thousands of attendees from every field. Our distinct visual identity, creative and strategic direction, social and email marketing, paid and earned advertising, formed an event that led to thought leaders from government, defense, private industry, and academia coming together to learn how the Air Force could apply and capitalize on the latest technologies.

The RSO has since become a permanent part of the Department of Defense and a critical Air Force organization. It’s all in service of the airmen who honor us by serving, and of the Air Force’s mission to fly, fight, and win.
